The Body, Unformed
Rather than being product oriented, this project was entirely focused on process. Taking slabs of clay on a layer of foam, I pressed different parts of my body into the slabs to create different shapes. In doing this, I was more interested in how I was able to manipulate the clay than I was in how its final form would present itself.
After assembling the slabs into a form, it was fired at cone 6 and glazed for finishing. Ultimately, this project explores how a body can interact and shape clay, and how this impacts form itself.
